World premiere! Intel 144-layer QLC flash memory, the main control is Huirong

According to media reports, as the world’s three largest memory factories will mass-produce the next-generation DDR5 DRAM in 2021, the memory market is expected to usher in the next growth cycle, which makes Samsung, SK Hynix, Micron and other three memory companies stepping up Technology development, in order to face market competition and grab market share.

Recently, Intel launched the world’s first 144-layer stacked TLC NAND flash memory particles, which are used in different SSD products such as D7-P5510, D5-P5316, 670p, and H20. However, Intel has been tight-lipped about the main control chip.

Huirong announced today that, as a senior partner of Intel, Huirong has continued to provide main control solutions for Intel SSDs for many years, and the SSD 670p and Optane H20 hybrid SSD released this time also use Huirong main control.


In fact, Intel’s previous-generation SSD 660p/650p and Optane H10 are also the main controllers of Huirong, and they are all Huirong SM2263.

The specific model of the main control solution this time has not been announced, but with reference to the Huirong product line, it is likely to be the SM2263, because its follow-up product is already the SM2264 that supports the PCIe 4.0 specification, and these two SSDs do not support PCIe 4.0.

Huirong SM2263 supports PCIe 3.0 x4, NVMe 1.3, supports four flash memory channels, supports LDPC ECC error correction, AES/TCG hardware encryption, 12 × 12 mm package.
